About Rose Senior

Rose Senior is a language teaching expert. She presents at conferences on a range of topics and gives customized professional development workshops for language teachers around the world. Her concept of class-centred teaching provides a framework for successful classroom teaching.

Rose has a regular column in English Teaching Professional, a leading practical magazine for English language teachers around the world. She provides insights into a range of topics relevant to language teaching. In particular she shows how successful classroom teachers teach in class-centred ways.

Rose is the author of The Experience of Language Teaching, Cambridge University Press, 2006, winner of the 2005 Ben Warren International House Prize. This book is based on grounded theory research into the words and actions of 100 experienced language teachers. At the end of the book Rose proposes a socio-pedagogic theory of classroom practice.

The Experience of Language Teaching describes communicative language teaching (CLT) from the perspective of EFL, ESL and foreign language teachers. An entertaining and readable book, The Experience of Language Teaching provides invaluable insights into the ups and downs of classroom life and the spontaneous decision-making of experienced teachers.

Rose is a senior honorary research fellow in the Graduate School of Education at the University of Western Australia.
